Metal Garages
Metal Garages for Sacramento and the foothills
Most garage projects start the same way: the cars sit outside, the boat or trailer lives under a cover, and the attached garage is full. A detached metal garage fixes that without touching the house. It can hold two or three cars, a tall bay for a motorhome or fifth-wheel, or a boat with the trailer still hitched, and it can be finished to look like it belongs next to your home, with matching colors, wainscot and roof pitch. Around Sacramento it also has to handle long summer heat, and in the foothills, fire-zone rules and snow.
We are garage builders working out of Cameron Park and covering 75 miles from the foothills to the valley: Sacramento, Folsom, El Dorado Hills and Elk Grove, Auburn, Placerville and Grass Valley, Lake Tahoe and the Carson Valley, plus Davis, Lodi and Stockton. We take care of every part of the build. We get the plans and pull the permit, grade the site, pour the slab and apron, raise the frame, set the metal roof and siding, and install the garage doors, walk doors, windows, insulation, lighting and outlets. Since we also build homes, additions and guest houses, matching your house is familiar work.

What's included
What goes into our metal garages
- 01
Two- and three-car garages
Detached garages with roll-up doors, a walk door and windows, sized for the vehicles you have now and the ones you plan to buy.
- 02
RV and boat garages
Tall sidewalls and a high, wide door for a motorhome, fifth-wheel or boat on its trailer, with a bay deep enough to close the door behind it.
- 03
Built to match your house
Wall and trim colors, wainscot, roof pitch and overhangs chosen to suit the home, so the garage looks planned from the start.
- 04
Slab, apron and driveway tie-in
A level, reinforced slab with the apron poured to meet your driveway, graded so water runs away from the doors.
- 05
Insulation, power and light
Insulation keeps summer heat down and stops winter condensation. We wire the outlets, lighting and door openers, plus a 220V circuit for an EV charger if you want one.
- 06
Fire-zone and snow-country garages
Metal roofing and siding with ember-resistant vents for foothill fire zones, and a frame built for the snow load at your elevation, up to Tahoe and Truckee.

Questions
Metal Garages FAQs
How tall does an RV garage need to be?
Tall enough for the door to clear the highest point of the RV, including the air conditioner and antennas, with room to spare. We measure your rig, or your boat on its trailer, and set the door height and sidewall height around it, along with a bay deep enough to close the door. If you plan to trade up to a bigger RV later, we size for that one.
Can a metal garage match my house?
Yes. Wall and trim colors, wainscot, roof pitch, overhangs and window style can all be chosen to suit the home, and the walls can take a different siding if you want a closer match. Because we also build homes, additions and guest houses, matching an existing house is everyday work for us.
How do you build a garage for Sacramento heat and foothill fire zones?
We insulate the roof and walls and pair a light roof color with ridge venting, which keeps a metal garage far cooler in summer than bare panels. A vapor retarder under the roof stops condensation from dripping on the cars on cold, foggy mornings. In a Fire Hazard Severity Zone, metal roofing and siding with ember-resistant vents meet the Chapter 7A requirements well, and at higher elevations the frame is built for your snow load.
How much does a metal garage cost?
Size, wall height and the number and size of doors matter most. After that come insulation, wiring, matching finishes and site work, which grows on a slope or where the apron needs a long run to the driveway. A tall RV garage is a bigger job than a two-car garage with the same footprint because of the height and the door. Send us the details and a local builder will call you back with a free quote.
Do I need a permit for a detached garage?
Yes. Counties and cities around Sacramento require a building permit, plans and inspections for a detached garage, and they set how far it must sit from property lines, the house, a well and a septic field. Some areas also limit height or ask that the garage match the house. We prepare the plans, pull the permit and schedule the inspections.
